31 January 1953 is the day that marked many Zeeuwen for life. Stories of people who were able to recount the flood disaster have been recorded. And fortunately a lot of visual material has been preserved.
This year, the flood house has an exhibition of coloured disaster photos. You can also admire a special collection of newspaper articles from that time. You can see how the news was reported locally and internationally. You will also see photos of the village centres as they were then and as they are now. It is strikingly recognisable and it makes you realise how authentic the island of Tholen is.
