Bas Quist has been swaying the sceptre at Huys van Roosevelt since 2016. Fascinated by the idea that two of America’s greatest presidents find their roots in his Oud-Vossemeer home, he has embarked on his dream. Bas is working hard to turn his restaurant Huys van Roosevelt into something very special. In a rather dull building that served as a bicycle shop, Bas saw what nobody saw: an ode to the past and a place to enjoy in the present.
Meanwhile, Huys van Roosenvelt is not only a popular spot among islanders but American tourists also know how to find it. They even organise day trips from Amsterdam that include a visit to the Roosevelt Infocentre. By the way, this can only be visited by appointment (06-46613751). In and around the restaurant you will see beautiful photos and texts with which the Roosenvelts made themselves immortal. You would almost forget that you can also eat delicious food here. Tip: Shared Dining, a bit of everything together. That way you don’t have to choose between all those delicious dishes. And don’t forget to try the Roosevelt beer or the Roosevelt liqueur… For island explorers, this is also a very nice place to do a stopover. Enjoy fresh tea on the cosy terrace but there is always a special drink on the menu too.
